Membership in the OAA cost $20 per year. Dues are collected in May through July for a fiscal year that runs from July through June of the following year. For new members joining the club in November through April, $10 is payable and will grant membership for the remainder of the fiscal year.
A family membership is also available; a second, third, etc. family member, residing in the same household as the primary member, can be a full voting member for an extra $50 per year.
Dues in the appropriate amount may be paid in person at the monthly club meeting or subscribe to ourĀ groups.io distribution list and submit a request to get our mailing address. Please make your check out to the Oglethorpe Astronomical Association.
While membership in the OAA is not required to participate in any of our events, it does grant the following benefits:
- Automatic membership in the Astronomical League*, which includes the quarterly newsletter “The Reflector”
- Voting rights in club decisions, including annual elections for officers held in December of each year
- Access to club owned equipment for check out, currently this includes a 6″ Orion SkyQuest Classic Dobsonian telescope, two Coronado 40mm H-Alpha telescopes for viewing the Sun
- Access to our private observing location (coordinated through the OAA Observing Chairman)
- The gratitude of the other paying club members
*Only the primary member in a family group is listed as a member of the AL
